Ocala husband arrested after confronting, punching his wife’s boyfriend during custody exchange

Ocala husband arrested after confronting, punching his wife’s boyfriend during custody exchange

A 28-year-old Ocala man is facing felony charges after he allegedly attacked his wife’s new boyfriend and attempted to prevent her from contacting law enforcement.

On Saturday, July 5, a Marion County Sheriff’s Office deputy responded to a local residence in reference to a physical altercation. Upon arrival, the deputy made contact with a woman who advised that the incident involved her husband, GCJL, and her new boyfriend who was identified in the arrest report as the victim.

According to a statement from L’s wife, she had brought the victim to her home in order to exchange custody of a child that she has in common with L. While she went inside the home with the child, L allegedly exited the back of the residence.

When the victim stepped back outside, she claimed that she saw L “actively punching” the victim while the victim remained seated in a vehicle. She stated that she attempted to “break up the fight,” and L responded by grabbing her hand.

The victim told the deputy that when the fight eventually stopped, she used her cellphone to call 911. L allegedly “grabbed her from behind in a bear hug” while attempting to take her cellphone, and the report stated that the 911 operator heard “yelling and screaming from all parties” for approximately one and a half minutes.

L then returned to the residence while his wife and the victim waited outside for law enforcement.

According to the victim’s statement, he was sitting in the passenger seat when L approached the vehicle. The victim stated that Levy attempted to start a conversation, but the victim ignored him. L then walked to the window closest to the victim, which prompted the victim to roll it down.

L allegedly reached into the vehicle and began punching the victim repeatedly in the head. Shortly after L’s wife exited the home, L stopped the attack and “went after her,” according to the victim.

The victim corroborated the statement from L’s wife regarding the events that occurred after altercation, including L’s alleged attempts to grab his wife’s cellphone shortly after she dialed 911. The report stated that the victim further alleged that L threatened to “bust the windows of the vehicle” during the incident.

The deputy noted in the report that the victim had slight swelling on the right side of his face and a scratch on his left hand. L’s wife also sustained minor injuries that included a scratch on her right thumb and two bruises on her right arm that looked “fresh.”

L spoke with the deputy and advised that he was upset with his wife because she had brought another man to the residence. In the report, the deputy mentioned that L allegedly admitted to punching the victim.

After being interviewed, L was placed under arrest and booked into Marion County Jail. The following day, he was released after posting a $8,000 bond, and he is facing the following charges: domestic battery (touch or strike), burglary with assault or battery, and hindering communication to a law enforcement officer of information relating to the commission or possible commission of an offense.

Jail records show that L is scheduled to appear in court at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, August 5.
