One dead and many injured after fatal, multi-vehicular car crash on I-75 north of Ocala Friday evening.

The accident, involving a flipped pickup truck, occurred at 6 p.m. at mile marker 365, located near Reddick.

The truck was traveling southbound on the interstate, lost control and collided with the center median, causing it to overturn onto the northbound lanes.

The 65-year-old male driver of the truck, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was pronounced dead at a local hospital, Florida Highway Patrol officials said. Two other passengers in the truck sustained serious injuries.

The accident caused damage to two other vehicles, one that was hit in the northbound lanes after the truck flipped over the median, and one that was struck by debris. But, passengers of the cars sustained only minor injuries.

The crash caused all northbound lanes to be blocked for several hours Friday evening.
