Ocala man arrested for aggravated child abuse after girl hospitalized

Marion County sheriff’s deputies arrested a man accused of severely abusing a child.

GB, 36, was arrested on the charge of aggravated child abuse on Wednesday.

According to the arrest report, deputies responded to a home on reports of a young child convulsing.

In the home, they found B holding a CPAP machine mask up to the girl’s mouth as she struggled to breathe. The unresponsive girl was bloody with visible bruises.

When questioned about the child’s injuries, B told deputies that he’d “overreacted.” He admitted to striking her with a belt for being disrespectful and punching her in the face.

At the hospital, medical staff determined the child suffered a brain bleed and rib fractures. They also noticed scaring and evidence of older rib fractures.
