Ocala man dies after being ejected in crash, run over by pickup, troopers say

A 25-year-old Ocala man died early Monday after he was ejected from his pickup truck in a crash and run over by another pickup on US-27 in Marion County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The crash happened around 2:20 a.m. west of NW 90 Avenue Road.

According to troopers, the 25-year-old was heading east in a pickup truck on US-27 when he rear-ended another pickup truck. The 25-year-old was ejected and landed in the roadway when his truck overturned.

The man was run over by another pickup truck that was heading east on US-27, troopers said. According to a crash report, the man was not wearing a seatbelt. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The pickup driver that was rear-ended was taken to the hospital with serious injuries. The third driver was uninjured.

Eastbound lanes were shutdown but later reopened at 7 a.m.
