A semitruck carrying a load of potatoes on Interstate 75 caught fire in Ocala early Saturday due to suspected tire failure, according to firefighters.
Ocala and Marion County firefighters responded around 4:42 a.m. to the area of mile marker 349, south of exits to State Road 200, where the refrigerated semi trailer was ablaze on the southbound outside shoulder.
The trailer’s refrigerator was promptly shut down and around 1,500 gallons of water were used to put the fire out, Ocala Fire Rescue said in a news release.
Video shared by Ocala Fire Rescue shows firefighters making their approach and hosing down the semitruck.
The driver of the semitruck was not injured, the release states, adding Florida Highway Patrol also responded to the scene.
