Officer injured after driver cuts across lanes for parking spot in Palm Beach

An officer was sent rolling over a car hood after a driver allegedly cut across lanes to snag a parking spot near Henry’s in Palm Beach.

A sergeant with the Palm Beach Police Department (PBPD) says that a motorcycle officer on westbound Poinciana Way was struck by a woman traveling the same direction around 6 a.m. on Tuesday.

The unidentified woman reportedly spotted a parking space near Henry’s at the 220 block when she turned from the far right light across a lane and into the path of the motorcycle.

The officer rolled across the hood of the car and landed in the roadway, per police.

The motorcycle was totaled, and the officer was taken to the hospital, where he was later released.

Officers say the driver was ticketed for careless driving.
