The North Port Police Department is investigating a shooting that left one person critically injured Sunday night.
Around 8 p.m., officers were called to the 8200 block of Osbert Avenue for reports of a gunshot victim, police said.
The suspected shooter was detained at the scene.
The victim was airlifted to a hospital and remains in critical condition.
Investigators said the individuals involved know each other and emphasized that there is no threat to the public.

The investigation is ongoing, and police said additional information is expected to be released Monday.
