One man is dead after a Brightline train collided with a car stopped on tracks in Palm Beach Gardens on Monday afternoon, police confirm.
The collision occurred around 2:15 p.m. by the intersection of Alternate A1A and Burns Road, the Palm Beach Gardens Police Department (PBGPD) explained. According to its update, first responders found the man’s body and he was pronounced dead by Palm Beach County Fire Rescue.
Officials have not released his name, but they noted that the family has been notified. He was the only person in the car at the time.
Photos sent by a CBS12 News viewer show extensive damage to the white Audi. The car’s roof was ripped off and the hood was caught on the front of the train.
PBGPD did not provide any details about how the crash happened. Palm Beach Gardens Police Major Javier Garcia said the police department and Brightline are investigating the crash.
