One dead in Panama City house fire

One person has died following a house fire in Panama City on Wednesday night.

According to the Panama City Fire Department, firefighters responded to a fire at a home located on E. 2nd Street shortly before 10 p.m.

Firefighters said once they arrived, there was heavy smoke and fire from all sides of the house. They also received reports that a person might still be in the home.

Firefighters said they found one person dead near the exit at the back of the home.

PCFD Investigators and the Florida State Fire Marshal’s Office are still investigating the cause of the fire.
