State troopers say a pickup truck driver has died after colliding with a school bus on a major roadway in Marion County on Wednesday afternoon.
Marion County Sheriff’s deputies say Highway 40 was shut down in both directions between Southeast 176th Avenue and Southeast 183rd Avenue Road when a vehicle collided with a bus.
State troopers say the bus was headed east on Highway 40 around 3 p.m. and attempted to make a left turn on Southeast 177th Avenue.
The bus failed to yield to an oncoming pickup truck towing a trailer. The pickup and bus collided in an offset head-on crash.
The bus had four students from Maplewood Elementary School on board at the time of the crash. No one on the bus was hurt.
The driver of the pickup suffered serious injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital. He later died from his injuries.
