A driver has died and a passenger has minor injuries after a single-vehicle crash on I-75 near the 134-mile marker in Fort Myers.

Florida Highway Patrol responded to the scene at approximately 1:10 a.m. on Friday.

Troopers say the car was traveling south on I-75 on the inside lane before serving to the right to avoid slower-moving traffic.

The driver reportedly lost control of the car, traveling off the highway into the grass before colliding with a tree and catching fire.

According to reports, the male driver was pronounced dead on the scene.

Troopers say the 20-year-old female passenger was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

Both occupants are reportedly from Fort Myers.
