One hospitalized after attic fire in Okeechobee home, officials say

An intense fire erupted in the attic of a Buckhead Ridge home, resulting in one person being hospitalized for smoke inhalation.

Okeechobee County Fire Rescue said that when crews arrived at the scene, they discovered fire conditions in the attic of the home.

The report states that the team initiated an aggressive attack and successfully contained the fire to the attic area, preventing it from spreading to the rest of the house.

One individual was evaluated at the scene and later transported to Raulerson Hospital for treatment of smoke inhalation, per officials.

Fortunately, the fire was contained, and there were no further injuries reported.
