Opa-locka man accused of murdering neighbor following argument over their girlfriends

Opa-locka man accused of murdering neighbor following argument over their girlfriends

A 26-year-old Opa-locka man is facing a second-degree murder charge after deputies say he shot and killed his neighbor during a dispute that stemmed from an argument involving their girlfriends.

GG was arrested Tuesday in connection with the Feb. 9 shooting outside his residence near the 1300 block of Sharazad Boulevard., according to the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office.

Investigators said the altercation began around 9:50 p.m. when G and the victim got into a fist fight.

The confrontation escalated after deputies say G punched the victim in the face. They said both men then returned to their respective homes shortly after.

Moments later, the victim reportedly returned to the parking lot near G’s front door and challenged him to a “one-on-one fight,” according to the report.

Instead, G armed himself with a gun, stepped outside and opened fire, striking the victim and causing him to fall face down, the report stated.

Deputies said G continued to shoot the victim multiple times while he was incapacitated before fleeing the area on foot.

Authorities pronounced the victim dead, but did not reveal his age or identity.

Deputies said G was located at his home and taken to MDSO’s Homicide Bureau, where detectives say he made a confession that was redacted in the publicly released report.

As of Wednesday, he was being held at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center, where his bond was listed as “to be set.”
