Panama City Beach shooting: Two women dead, suspect arrested

This article has been updated to reflect new information given by officials.

According to Panama City Beach Police, multiple arrests have been made in connection to a deadly shooting.

The shooting happened around 5:15 p.m. Tuesday evening at the Sunnyside Apartments in Panama City Beach.

Two women were killed.

Officers said there are no suspects at large and no ongoing threat to the public.

This is still an active investigation and officers said they expect to release more information Wednesday as it becomes available.

Panama City Beach Police officials have confirmed two women were killed Tuesday evening in a shooting incident.

Several different agencies have joined the search for the suspect. While the hunt continues, officials say there is no active threat to the community.

“There is no active threat to the community. We can, without going too much into the details, say that our primary suspect has fled the scene. This investigation is ongoing. I will confirm that we have two persons of interest that we are currently talking to,” Panama City Beach Police Chief Talamantez said.

A perimeter was set up immediately, and a helicopter circled the radius. Chief Talamantez confirms this is not a spring break-related issue. While many details are still confidential, Talamantez says his search for justice is not.

“This is about is as sad as it gets. I have to make a phone call here pretty soon to a family that’s have to hear some very tragic news. And now part of that conversation I had with them is that we’re going to bring justice to their family by holding this person accountable,” Talamantez added.

Talamantez says this is an isolated incident. He says they are also questioning two other people he described as people of interest. As of 7:45 this evening, the helicopter was still circling the area.
