Panama City man killed in Gulf County crash

Florida Highway Patrol troopers report one person was killed and another critically injured in a crash in Gulf County Friday.

Troopers said around 7:35 p.m., a sedan was in the eastbound lane of State Road 22, near Road 3A, when it veered onto the shoulder. They said the car then swerved back onto the road and across the center line into the westbound lane.

Troopers report the sedan kept rolling east in the westbound lane as an SUV was approaching, driving west in the westbound lane.

Officials said the cars crashed head-on.

The crash report states the driver of the sedan, a Panama City man, was pronounced dead at an area hospital.

The report said the driver of the SUV, a woman from Tucson, Arizona, was taken to a hospital with critical injuries.

Troopers said both drivers were wearing their seatbelts when they crashed. At the time the crash report was released Saturday morning, the man’s next of kin had not yet been notified.
