A Clearwater man was arrested for battery after allegedly punching a nurse at LifeStream Behavioral Center.
An officer responded to the Leesburg Police Department, located at 115 E Magnolia St., regarding a battery around 10:25 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 3, according to an arrest report from the LPD. Dispatch advised that the incident, later found to involve 38-year-old Timothy Finical, happened the day before.
Upon arrival, the officer met with a female victim. She explained that while working at LifeStream, located at 2020 Tally Rd., she was with Finical in the access center around 3 a.m. She knew him as a patient under a law enforcement Baker Act, the report said.
She and another nurse were supposed to escort Finical to the men’s unit. While asking him to walk with her, he stood in the doorway of a bathroom. He then told her that he would just hit her in the face and used his right hand to punch her right eye. Other personnel subsequently restrained him as a bruise formed under her right eye, the report said.
The officer proceeded to head to LifeStream to get surveillance footage and speak with Finical. However, a supervisor with access was not at work, and Finical refused to talk. He was also acting erratically, the report said.
Finical was ultimately arrested on Monday, Aug. 4, at LifeStream. He was charged with simple battery on law enforcement officer/firefighter/EMT and transported to Lake County Jail.
