PCSO investigating deputy-involved shooting in Hudson

Pasco County Sheriff’s Office (PCSO) is investigating a deputy-involved shooting in Hudson.

The shooting happened in the area of Denton Avenue and Dane Lane on Thursday (May 2).

PCSO says that a woman, later identified as Isabella North, 29, flagged down a driver and asked her to call emergency services because she needed help.

The driver called and handed the phone to North. North allegedly told them that she “felt like she was going to kill someone” and that she was armed with a knife, according to PCSO.

“Isabella stated multiple times to the call taker that she feels like she is going to. kill somebody. She actually stated, “I really feel like I’m going to kill somebody,” said Sheriff Chris Nocco.

Two deputies arrived on scene and attempted to talk with North. That’s when she pulled out a knife, held it in a fighting position, and started moving toward deputies with it pointed toward them. Both deputies fired one shot each at her.

“We have a behavioral health team. Our members are all trained in de-escalation techniques. The problem in this situation, you had no time. She did not allow us to use our training, our techniques,” said Sheriff Nocco.

PCSO says the entire incident happened within 30 seconds of deputies arriving.

“It’s a very sad situation. The deputies are all trained in de-escalation. However, the subject did not allow us to talk to her,” said Sheriff Nocco.

North was taken to the hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

Both deputies are on administrative leave per protocol and the shooting is being investigated by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement.
