Pedestrian crossing street illegally hit and killed in Port Charlotte

One man is dead after an evening following a vehicle vs pedestrian crash in Port Charlotte.

A 30-year-old woman was driving down Midway Blvd. just past 6:30 p.m. Thursday, when she crashed head-first into a pedestrian trying to walk across both travel lanes.

First responders rushed the victim to a nearby hospital, but the injuries were too severe.

Florida Highway Patrol is investigating.
