Pedestrian dies after hit by pickup truck in Lake County

A pedestrian died after being hit by a pickup truck in Lake County.

The 35-year-old male driver of a 2015 Ford F-150 was traveling northbound on Lake Mack Drive just south of Evergreen Drive in Deland at around 5:01 a.m. Monday, according to a report from the Florida Highway Patrol. Around that same time, a 51-year-old male pedestrian was walking northbound in the roadway, not in a marked crosswalk, in the same area. He was in the direct path of the driver.

As a result, the front right side of the pickup truck collided with the pedestrian. He was transported to AdventHealth Deland and pronounced deceased. The driver and passenger were not transported and remained on scene. The crash remains under investigation.
