Pedestrian dies nearly a month after Palm Beach Co. hit-and-run, PBSO says

A 57-year-old man who was struck by a Jeep last month while he was crossing a road in Lantana died over the weekend.

The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office (PBSO) revealed Craig Kersh died on Sunday, nearly a month after wreck. The statement announcing his death noted that the PBSO investigation is still ongoing.

PBSO previously reported that a 27-year-old man was heading west in the Jeep on Hypoluxo Road on Saturday, August 24, when Kersh walked into the street near the Family Dollar store. Investigators determined Kersh did not yield to the Jeep, and the SUV hit him.

The Jeep’s driver fled the scene without stopping to check on Kersh’s condition, PBSO alleges.

Kersh was rushed to St. Mary’s Medical Center with critical injuries. Authorities said at the time that he was not expected to survive.
