A pedestrian was killed after being run over by a dump truck in Parrish, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
Troopers said the dump truck was backing east on Bella Mar Trail, east of Diamond Reef Drive, when the pedestrian was helping guide the vehicle as it backed up to unload. The pedestrian tripped and fell and was run over by the truck’s right-side tires, FHP said.
Manatee County EMS pronounced the pedestrian dead at the scene.
The crash happened in a construction area for a new subdivision. The Florida Highway Patrol’s Traffic Homicide Unit is investigating.
