A pedestrian is dead after being hit by a car in DeSoto County on Saturday morning.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, at around 6:06 a.m., troopers were called to a scene at U.S. Route 17 and Heard Street after reports of a car crash.
FHP says a Ford Fiesta was traveling southbound on US-17 when the vehicle hit a 66-year-old male pedestrian, who was attempting to cross US-17 at a marked crosswalk.
The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.
FHP says the crash remains under investigation.
