Pedestrian killed in Lake Worth hit-and-run; deputies search for black Honda Accord

A pedestrian is dead after a late-night hit-and-run in Lake Worth, and deputies are now searching for a black Honda Accord that sped away from the scene.

According to the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office, it happened just before 11 p.m. Saturday along 10th Avenue North near the 2400 block. The driver of the Accord reportedly pulled out to pass a slower car, cut back into the outside lane, and hit a man walking along the edge of the road.

The traffic report states that the impact sent the pedestrian flying into an aluminum fence and onto the sidewalk. He was pronounced dead minutes later.

Authorities have not yet released his name. Instead of pulling over, investigators say the driver kept heading eastbound and fled. Deputies are looking for a black 2003 to 2007 Honda Accord.

The car will likely have noticeable damage on the passenger side, including the front quarter panel, wheel well, side mirror, and passenger window.
