A pedestrian is seriously injured after a crash with an off-duty Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office deputy vehicle.
According to HCSO, at 9:04 p.m. Tuesday, a pedestrian was hit by an off-duty HCSO deputy at the intersection of West Hillsborough Avenue and Memorial Highway.
The 26-year-old deputy rendered life-saving aid until the Hillsborough County Fire Rescue arrived at the scene and took the 30-year-old man to the hospital.
“The safety of our community is our highest priority, and our deputies take every precaution while on the road. Our thoughts are with the individual and their loved ones, and we are hoping for a swift and full recovery,” an HCSO spokesperson said.
Deputies said the crash appeared to be accidental.
