Pedestrian struck, killed in St. Pete crash, police say.

A pedestrian was struck and killed in St. Pete early Tuesday morning, according to police.

Officers with the St. Petersburg Police Department responded to 22nd Avenue South and Grove Street South at 7:19 a.m. on Tuesday for a crash involving a pedestrian.

The pedestrian, 59-year-old Opprittee Morris, was taken to Bayfront Health where she was later pronounced dead.

Officials say a black Toyota Camry was headed west on 22nd Avenue South near 7th Street South as Morris was crossing 22nd Avenue South from south to north.

Morris was not in a marked crosswalk, according to authorities.

Police say the driver remained on scene and is cooperating with the ongoing investigation.
