A pedestrian walking across a road Wednesday in Osceola County was struck by a car and killed, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The crash occurred around 8:16 p.m. on U.S. 192 near Druid Way, troopers said.
According to an FHP crash report, the pedestrian was attempting to cross U.S. 192’s eastbound lanes when he was struck by the front right of a sedan.
The pedestrian was not in a marked crosswalk, troopers said, adding debris from the crash struck the front of an unmarked Osceola County Sheriff’s Office patrol vehicle that was traveling directly behind the sedan.
The pedestrian — so far only identified as a man — was pronounced dead at the scene, troopers said.
Neither the 42-year-old St. Cloud man driving the sedan nor the 36-year-old Kissimmee woman driving the sheriff’s office vehicle were injured in the crash, according to FHP.
The identity of the pedestrian is pending word from the medical examiner’s office, the report states.
FHP is still investigating.
