Pedestrian walking on US-1 struck, killed in Volusia County

 A pedestrian walking along U.S. 1 in Ormond Beach was struck and killed Thursday morning, according to Florida Highway Patrol.

The crash happened around 2:50 a.m. near Destination Daytona Lane.

According to an FHP crash report, the pedestrian, described only as a female, was walking north in the outside lane when a 2018 Toyota Corolla traveling north hit her.

The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene, the FHP said.

The driver, a 33-year-old Palm Coast woman, remained at the scene, according to troopers.

An investigation is ongoing.
