Pensacola man arrested for DUI after crash with sheriff's patrol SUV

A 44-year-old Pensacola man was arrested for driving under the influence following a collision with a marked Escambia County Sheriff’s Office patrol vehicle on Sunday.

Troopers say the incident occurred at approximately 4:40 p.m. CST on I-10 Ramp G, north of I-110.

According to FHP, the man was driving a sedan eastbound in the outside lane when he failed to maintain his lane. This resulted in the sedan veering into the inside lane and striking the rear right side of the patrol vehicle, which was being driven by a 24-year-old Pensacola woman.

No injuries were reported from the collision.

However, during the crash investigation, officers observed signs of impairment from the sedan’s driver.

A subsequent criminal investigation for DUI was initiated, and the man was placed under arrest after conducting field sobriety tests.

He was then taken to the Escambia County Jail.
