Pensacola man jailed after high-speed chase, hits car and flees on foot

A Pensacola man was arrested on Friday following a chase through Escambia County.

22-year-old Terfa Uvah is facing several charges including aggravated fleeing and eluding — hit and run — resisting arrest — and drug charges.

Florida highway patrol says troopers tried to stop Uvah on Thursday afternoon near Detroit Boulevard and Highway 29.

Troopers say as they tried to get behind him, he took off at a high rate of speed.

He hit a Toyota Rav 4, then got out of his car and ran away, according to FHP.He was captured and arrested.

Troopers say he had an active warrant out of Escambia County on drug charges.

The driver of the Toyota was taken to the hospital for minor injuries.

Uvah is currently being held in Escambia County jail with no bond.
