Person airlifted after being shot at cafeteria in Hialeah: Police

A person was taken to the hospital on Sunday morning after they were shot at a cafeteria in Hialeah, police said.

According to Hialeah Police, the shooting happened at around 10:30 a.m. at La Lunita Cafeteria, in the area of 2200 West 8th Court.

The victim was found with a gunshot wound, and they were airlifted to Jackson Memorial Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police said that the alleged shooter remains on the loose.

People in the area told NBC6 in Spanish that the area is not safe and that there have been incidents in the past.

They said they are surprised that a shooting would happen in broad daylight.

An investigation into the shooting remains active.
