A person is in the hospital after they took an 8-foot fall from a platform at a construction site in Martin County.

Martin County Fire Rescue says on Tuesday at 9:30 a.m., its units responded to a construction site on South Beach Road after they received reports about a fall.

Fire rescue says the incident occurred during a concrete pumping operation when a hose suddenly malfunctioned, causing the victim to fall approximately 8 feet.

Special operations personnel at the scene used a low-angle rope system to safely lower the patient to the ground. The person who sustained serious injuries was taken to St. Mary’s Medical Center in West Palm Beach for treatment.

Photos at the scene show the victim on a stretcher being pulled onto an ambulance.

The victim’s condition is unknown at this time.
