A person was removed from a vehicle that was partially submerged in a Fort Lauderdale waterway on Friday, fire rescue said.

Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue said they arrived at around 1:30 p.m. to the scene on Southwest 28th Avenue. Chopper6 video showed several police units and fire rescue parked at the end of a cul-de-sac, as first responders worked in the water way behind the homes.

A single occupant of the vehicle was removed, but their condition was not immediately known.

NBC6 is working to learn how the car came to be in the water.

This is a developing story.
