The St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office said it responded to a call early Sunday morning about a truck submerged in a canal in Fort Pierce.
The sheriff’s office said deputies responded to the scene at around 6 a.m. and found that the vehicle had crashed through the guardrail and become almost fully submerged in the water.
The status of any occupants in the truck was unknown at the time, and a dive team had to be called in.
By around 9 a.m. on Sunday, the sheriff’s office had recovered the truck from the canal and found that it was unoccupied.
The investigation into the circumstances of the crash is ongoing, SLCSO said.
