Police investigate double shooting in Opa-locka

Officers responded to the scene of a reported shooting on Wednesday afternoon.

It happened at approximately 5:49 p.m. along the 2100 block of Lincoln Boulevard in Opa-locka.

According to police, two men were shot. One was shot in the arm and the leg, while the other suffered a gunshot wound to his arm, police said.

Both were taken to Ryder Trauma Center at Jackson Memorial Hospital for medical care.

Investigators were able to determine two suspects, a driver and a shooter, and identified the shooter’s vehicle.

Both were located in the area of Northwest 153rd Street and 21st Avenue and taken into custody without further incident, police said.

Local 10 News crews observed upwards of a dozen evidence markers, a shell casing and a black scooter after arriving at the scene.

“Oh, it doesn’t get any better, it just get worse and worse around here,” said a resident of the area who asked not to be identified. “Everything is with guns. It’s not like before when people would fight it out.”

There has been no update on the health status of either of the victims.

Police have yet to identify the people taken into custody.
