Police in Broward County are investigating a shooting.
It happened Tuesday at approximately 6:40 p.m. in the area of the 800 block of Northwest 22nd Road in Fort Lauderdale.
According to police, officers responded to a ShotSpotter alert and found a victim who had been shot.
Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue rushed the victim to Broward Health Medical Center but did not provide an update on their condition.
The shooting happened near the home of a woman named ER, known throughout the neighborhood as BM.
A pillar of this community, known for her food and toy drives and mentoring others, R used Local 10’s cameras to remind her neighbors of an important message.
“L-o-v-e, love,” she said. “I ask my young people, stop. This is your BM. We need you. Every family needs each other.”
The circumstances surrounding the shooting remain under investigation.
