A man was pronounced dead in Fort Lauderdale just minutes after the start of the new year, police confirmed.
Fort Lauderdale police said officers responded to a shooting call at approximately 12:02 a.m. Wednesday in the 700 block of Northeast 17th Court and found a victim with a gunshot wound.
The man was transported by Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue to Broward Health Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead, according to police.
Authorities said the FLPD’s Homicide Unit is working to determine the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
No information about the victim’s age or identity have been disclosed at this time.
