Police in Miami-Dade County are investigating a domestic stabbing incident.
It happened at approximately 7 p.m. Tuesday in the area of West 53rd Street and 12th Avenue in Hialeah.
According to police, a man and a woman, both of whom are in their 70s, were traveling in a car when they began to argue.
Police said the argument escalated and the man stabbed the woman, causing the vehicle they were traveling in to crash into a van, before the man stabbed himself.
Witness Miguel Martinez says he saw the two bleeding pretty badly.
“The guy came out of the car and (said) ‘He’s killing her, he’s killing her,” Martinez said.
Both were rushed to Jackson Memorial Hospital but authorities did not provide an update on their health condition.
Detectives said they believe this is an isolated incident and that there is no threat to the community.
Charges are pending as the investigation remains active and ongoing, police said.
