A Riviera Beach woman was killed early Monday morning when her car slammed into a tree on President Barack Obama Boulevard.
The Riviera Beach Police Department (RBPD) said that the call came in at 1:51 a.m. from someone who witnessed the crash. Riviera Beach Fire Rescue arrived at the scene and pronounced the woman — 56-year-old M.D.A — dead.
Police said the road was closed for several hours while the Traffic Fatality Unit conducted an on-scene investigation.
Investigators learned that A. was driving a 2018 Lexus E350 southbound when her sedan struck a large tree in the median. The RBPD said Andrews-Green was not wearing a seatbelt at the time, and speed and distracted driving are possible factors in the crash, though the investigation remains active.
