The high-speed crash at a busy Pensacola intersection on Wednesday morning left an unborn baby dead, according to Pensacola police.
Police say the crash happened at 7:27 a.m. at North Ninth Avenue and Bayou Boulevard when a southbound vehicle traveling on Ninth Avenue at a high rate of speed disregarded a red light at Bayou Boulevard and struck another vehicle on the driver’s side.
The vehicle that was hit was occupied by a woman who was pregnant, according to police.
Police say the woman was transported to the hospital, but her baby did not survive.
Charges are pending against the driver who disregarded the red light, according to police.
Pensacola Police have released a photo of the truck that ran the light. They are asking the public if anyone saw this truck speeding or driving recklessly on or near 9th Avenue during the time of the crash to please contact Pensacola Police at 850-435-1946 or call Crime Stoppers at 850-433-STOP.
