Pompano Beach home left scorched after fire; resident says water heater blew up

First responders rushed to the scene of a house fire Sunday night in Pompano Beach.

The fire was reported at a home in the 2500 block of Northeast Third Avenue.

The back of the home was apparently fully engulfed in flames.

One witness told Local 10 News that she was watching TV when she saw a red flame outside her window.

She then told her grandmother, who immediately called 911.

Local 10’s Michaila Hightower spoke to a man Monday who lives at the home, who said the water heater blew up.

Pompano Beach Fire Rescue officials confirmed that no one was injured in the fire.

The cause of the blaze is under investigation.

The American Red Cross offered to assist the resident, however he has opted to sleep in his car in the driveway out of fear that someone will steal his belongings.
