Popular Orange County restaurant closed indefinitely after fire breaks out

The Waterfront Orlando restaurant is closed indefinitely after a fire destroyed part of the building.

Firefighters responded to the restaurant on South Orange Ave. before 5 a.m. Sunday.

Owner RD says his wife woke him up after seeing a breaking report on WESH 2 Sunrise.

D says he is not sure how the fire started but will work to rebuild the restaurant which has been open since 1972.

“We have no choice, but to rebuild it,” D says. “It’s our livelihood, but it’s also an icon for the city of Edgewood.”

He is unsure when the rebuilding will begin.

The restaurant posted on social media and said, “We will be closed due to a fire that occurred last night. No one was injured, and Orange County fire department was able to extinguish the fire quickly before it spread to the entire building. We are devastated and working on plans for our comeback.”

We reached out to the Orange County Fire Department for more information and have not heard back.
