A motorcyclist died in a crash involving two vehicles in Port Charlotte, Florida, this morning, causing a temporary closure of U.S. 41 between Elkham and Port Charlotte Boulevards.
The Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office said the road has since reopened.
The Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) is investigating the crash and will provide more information about what led up to the incident soon.

FHP says that the motorcyclist was travelling north on US 41 at a high rate of speed, approaching Elkham Boulevard.
They add that a 24-year-old female driving a Kia was travelling south, attempting to turn onto Elkham Boulevard.
The Kia turned left, and the front of the motorcycle collided with the side of the car. The motorcyclist was pronounced deceased at the hospital.
The driver of the Kia sustained a minor injury.
