Paramedics rushed a postal worker to the hospital after he was stabbed in Biscayne Park.
Biscayne Park Police officers responded to the residential area located on the 11700 Northeast 10th Avenue, Monday afternoon.
7News cameras captured a heavy police presence in the area with crime scene tape surrounding the neighborhood.
Detectives said the victim appeared to have a stab wound in the torso, but was conscious and alert.
The victim was transported to Jackson Memorial Hospital Ryder Trauma Center. He is said to be in stable condition and expected to be OK.
Officers located the subject and quickly took him into custody.
Neighbors who spoke to 7News said they didn’t recognize the subject.
“I’m really surprised. Stunned,” said neighbor AB.
But they did know the postal workers who drive the route and wish the victim well.
“Here whenever you walk, whoever you cross the street with, says hello. Complete strangers. They all greet you, there’s a lot of solidarity, a lot of community feeling,” said neighbor DC.
Neighbors added the upscale neighborhood is the last place they thought their mail carrier would be attacked.
“Things like this never really happen here. It’s always so calm, it’s neighborhood friendly. You see little kids with their lemonade stands, stuff like that throughout the day,” said neighbor VJ.
Following the incident, several postal workers began showing up to the scene to show support to their coworker.
Detectives have not identified the subject and have not released the motive behind the stabbing.
The charges facing the subject also remains unclear.
