Power pole ripped out of the ground after being struck by car in Brooksville

Some Brooksville residents may have been without power for a few hours Saturday night after a car took out a power pole.

Hernando County Fire Rescue said crews responded to the scene on Ayers Road near the intersection with Prosperity Lane at around 11 p.m.

Upon arrival, they found a sedan that had crashed into one of the poles, which then fell onto the car.

HCFR confirmed to 8 On Your Side that at least one person was taken to the hospital, but their current condition is unknown.

Photos from the scene appear to show a second vehicle that sustained damage to its front end, though no details were provided about exactly how it was involved in the crash.
