A Punta Gorda man was arrested after reportedly hitting a motorcyclist while driving under the influence in Port Charlotte on Saturday.
Reports say Kreg Ogrodowski, 45, struck a motorcyclist when he was rounding a curve and lost control of the vehicle.
The victim was taken to the hospital for injuries. There is no update on the victim’s condition.
Charlotte County deputies responded to the Veterans Boulevard and Loveland Boulevard intersection for reports of an accident.
When deputies arrived they found a motorcycle on the sidewalk and a man lying on the ground.
According to reports, a witness continued to follow the car, took a video of the license plate and found the connected address.
Deputies reportedly responded to Ogrodowski’s home in Port Charlotte.
Ogrodowski drove back to the scene where deputies say they were able to identify damage to the right passenger side.
Ogrodowski told deputies he had gone golfing earlier that morning and then got lunch at Hooters where he said he had a few beers.
Deputies put Ogrodowski through a field sobriety test which they say he failed.
Ogrodowski was arrested and taken to the Charlotte County Jail where he was charged with:
- DUI damage to property or person of another
- DUI with serious bodily injury to another
- DUI 0.15 or higher with a person under 18 in the vehicle
- Failure to stop and remain at the crash that involved serious bodily injury
