Reckless drivers crash into, kill elderly woman turning onto Ocala Road

Reckless drivers speeding down an Ocala Road are facing charges for crashing into and killing an elderly woman and hurting two others, according to Florida Highway Patrol troopers.

Troopers say two drivers were speeding north on Southwest 49th Avenue Road around noon Saturday. An SUV with three people, including a 77-year-old woman from Ocala, was turning onto the road from a residential neighborhood when a 28-year-old man hit their car.

A 48-year-old man was slightly injured, while a 78-year-old man and the elderly woman were seriously hurt. The woman was taken to the hospital, where she died.

The 28-year-old stayed at the scene of the crash, and is facing charges, according to Florida Highway Patrol troopers. They say they’re also searching for the second reckless driver.
