Report: Pensacola man threw phone and brick at 68-year-old woman, slapped her in face

A 24-year-old man is charged with assaulting a 68-year-old woman in Escambia County.

R D was arrested last Wednesday on charges of:

  • aggravated assault
  • battery on a person 65 years or older
  • aggravated battery with a weapon

The incident happened last Wednesday on Lakewood Road.

According to the arrest report, the woman said D first took her purse from her porch and went back to his home.

The report states the woman chased after him to retrieve her purse. She knocked on his door and he answered and gave her purse back, but her cell phone was still missing.

D then threw the phone at the woman, according to the report. She told deputies that as she tried to get away, D also threw a brick at her — hitting her in the lower back — before slapping her in the face.

The report states other nearby residents then came over and intervened.

The woman chose not to file theft charges, but she wanted to file aggravated assault and battery charges.

D remains in Escambia County Jail on $25,000 bond.
