A 36-year-old motorcyclist was killed Tuesday night in a crash on State Road 9B near I-95, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
Troopers said the motorcyclist, who is from Staten Island, New York, was headed south on 9B around 9:30 p.m. when he was hit from behind by a car, which was being driven by an 18-year-old from Erving, Massachusetts.
The impact threw the rider off the motorcycle and sent the bike sliding down the road on its left side. The rider died at the scene. He was wearing a helmet, according to the report.
The 18-year-old remained at the scene and is cooperating, troopers said. He was wearing a seat belt and was not hurt.
