A major crash on I-75 South in Venice has been causing serious delays for travelers on Saturday afternoon.
The crash was first reported at around 11:50 a.m., and appeared to involve a large truck that rolled over.
It happened near mile marker 189, but is causing a backup stretching five miles, with the worst of the traffic starting near mile marker 194.
All three lanes of traffic are closed, and law enforcement is directing drivers onto the shoulder to get past.
When it rolled over, the truck seemed to spill whatever it was carrying across the road. Traffic cameras show most of the roadway covered in a light-colored, powdery material that creates clouds of dust when vehicles drive over it.
Police have released little information about the crash and haven’t said if the truck driver or anyone else was injured.
Drivers are advised to avoid the area if possible and find alternate routes.
