DESOTO COUNTY, Fla. —
A man was arrested after a woman was killed in a crash at the intersection of County Road 761 and Kings Highway in DeSoto County Tuesday afternoon.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, Marlon Josue Contreras-Galindo, 21, of Sarasota, was arrested after he was accused of driving without a license after the crash killed a 67-year-old Port Charlotte woman.
The crash involved an SUV and a pickup truck at 1:45 p.m. FHP said the woman driving the SUV was heading west on CR-761, while Contreras-Galindo was in a Dodge Ram pickup truck heading north on Kings Highway approaching the SUV.
According to FHP, the woman made a left from a stop sign in front of the approaching truck Contreras-Galindo was reportedly driving, as the left front of the truck hit the left side of the SUV.
Troopers said the woman died at the scene, and Contreras-Galindo had no reported injuries.
The crash remains under investigation.
